It's starting to get busy here at Southern Exposure Photography! Check out my "Upcoming Events" tab and be sure to "subscribe" if you haven't already so that you are the first to know! I've got my first wedding of 2019 coming up this weekend and it is for a young lady that is close to my heart! I took this picture of Dallas when I was first starting out in my photographic journey - I was still at Calhoun Community College and I was shooting with a Pentax K1000 35mm film camera (which I still own and still enjoy shooting with when I have the time and film!) Sometimes I miss the excitement and the nervousness of shooting film - you didn't know for SURE if you had a proper exposure or a finger on the lens or whatever common mishap that is easily corrected in the digital days, until two weeks later when you got your film back. During my Calhoun days I was in the darkroom nearly every day "creating" (I blame that and my years working in an aerial mapping dark room for the reason I can't see at night - if only headlights were red, ha!) I miss the slowness of the print developing in the tray, the smell of the stop bath, the excitement of seeing the image appear... all my hard work rewarded with an image that was hopefully properly exposed and creative and one that would knock the teachers socks off :) Saturday though, I will be back to enjoying the instant gratification I get from showing Dallas on the back of the camera how beautiful she looks and sharing her beautiful images on social media for all of her friends and family to see! Now, enough reminiscing - I've got batteries to charge :)
